ARTIST’S BIOGRAPHY

Judith Diana Winston is a visionary artist and writer. She has worked in the field of Photography for over twenty years. She has attended The Detroit Institute of Art, Detroit, Michigan and The Cranbrook Academy, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from The University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, and has studied photography at the San Francisco Academy of Art College and the San Francisco Art Institute. She has worked in the movie industry and as a fashion photographer for such clients as Victoria’s Secret and Macys.

In 1980 she moved to Los Angeles, thinking to expand her work as a fashion photographer. However, life seemed to have other plans for her! Early in 1981 she explored a life long fascination with Egypt, traveling there with a well known author/teacher and trance medium from Virginia. She returned again with him again in early 1983 as his staff photographer. This trip marked a transition both in Judith Diana’s personal life and in her work. Upon her return, she began the ongoing process of combining her spiritual quest with her abilities as an artist and communicator.

Her photography, with the addition of hand-painting, quickly moved into the area of Fine Art and has been featured in Darkroom Photography, many gallery shows, as well as a nationally juried exhibition funded by the NEA, entitled "Women Photographers In America". Her work is currently a part of both private and corporate collections. She is currently in the process of putting together an incredible photographic book, featuring her series, MONUMENTS TO MAGIC.

A list of private and corporate collectors is available upon request.

Her meditation workbook MEDITATIVE MAGIC, is now in its second printing. It is being nationally distributed and selling well. The German translation was published by Goldmann in March 1998. Judith Diana is currently completing the manuscript of her second book, EARTHWEAVER. It documents her personal journey of transformation and is a mystical story within a story.

Judith Diana has said of her photography; "As I reflect on my work at this point, going all the way back to the late 1970"s I see it as basically spiritual, or shamanic in nature. My purpose has always been to change and elevate consciousness and to work toward healing. It has just become more obvious in my current choice of subject matter."
